In the 2023-24 school year, Educators Cooperative served as a community partner to Dr. Tasha Woods and the San Diego Unified School District to expand restorative practices as part of the district's Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services program.
1:1 personalized sessions with any staff who are interested in expanding restorative practices (tiers 1-3) and restorative spaces within the school community
Facilitation of coaching cohorts with other educators who are implementing restorative work within their school community

Restorative Practices
Jessie Tena has over twenty years of experience in the California public school system serving as a teacher, administrator, coach, and mentor. She now serves as a consultant who has worked across the United States supporting various initiatives centered on transformative practices for increasing the well being of both adults and children in school communities. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis on teaching at the secondary level from San Diego State University as well as a Master’s degree in Education with a Cross-Cultural focus. Recent projects include leading a team in San Diego Unified School District to end the "school to prison pipeline" and support the expansion of restorative communities. Jessie also serves as an advisor to nonprofits and community organizations interested in integrating restorative and equitable practices into their systems of support.
JuanCarlos Nieblas was born and raised in San Diego, California. For the last 25 years JuanCarlos has led educational justice work providing multiple services in Elementary, Middle, and High School as a counselor, pupil advocate and Restorative Justice Practitioner. His work with youth and their families that began at the age of 16 has led him to serve as a leader in the Restorative Justice movement. Prior to joining Educators Cooperative he served as the Program Manager for the Restorative Justice Practices in Schools with The National Conflict Resolution Center where he worked in partnerships with several districts throughout San Diego County including San Diego Unified, Escondido Union, Oceanside Unified, Vista Unified and Sweetwater Union.
JuanCarlos continues to employ his diverse educational experience to support students’ personal, social, emotional, and academic needs. JuanCarlos holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in chemical dependency and a Pupil Services Credential for School Counseling from National University. JuanCarlos is a member of Izcalli and the National Compadres Network where he continues to honor his lifelong commitment to serve and mentor young men in the community as he was once a mentee himself.
Channing Moreland is the mother of three wonderful children and was inspired by the birth of her daughter to create a book with unique and positive representation for Black Girls. She has a bachelors of Science in Speech Language Pathology and Master's level educational background in School Psychology and Educational Counseling with an emphasis in culturally responsive trauma informed care and restorative justice practices. With five years of classroom teacher experience in middle and high school, a wealth of parenting experience, and experience gained from serving Black students and students of color to guide and inform her creative process in the edu-cultural sphere.
Channing also has a soft spot for social justice with a Black focus, and has organized and participated in countless local community efforts serving, improving, elevating and advocating for the lives and rights of her community members. She has also created and lead Black Lives Yoga, a National effort to highlight and prioritize mental health and Self-care in the movement for Black Lives through Yoga lead by Black Women .
